Question: I wanted to know about the Puerto Rican flag because my family is from Puerto Rico.
Answer: The flag was first used used on December 22,1895. A group of 59 Puerto Ricans led by Dr. Julio J, gathered at chimney corner hall in Manhattan, New York and organized a political group attached to the Cuban Revolutionary Party, which wanted independence for Puerto Rico and Cuba from Spanish rule.
The white star represents the country. The three sides of the triangle represent the government. The red stripes stand for the blood that feeds the government. The white stripes are the symbol of the rights of the people. The flag was officially adopted on July 25, 1952.
